Ministerialdirigent Prof. Dr. Michael Schmitt is the head of the tax department in the Ministerium für Finanzen und Wirtschaft Baden-Württemberg in Stuttgart. In this function he has to work on all doubtful cases in tax law. The main focus of his work is on consulting legislative procedures on taxation on earnings and the taxation of corporate groups. Besides Prof. Dr. Schmitt is head of the Steuerberatungs-Prüfungsausschuss Baden-Württemberg and does lectures and workshops for the advanced training of all professional groups that work with tax law (Steuerberater, Wirtschaftsprüfer).

His practical focus is on taxation of corporate groups, especially on national and crossborder mergers & acquisitions and corporate reorganisations. He is author of several publications on tax law.
